Children's Marathon
Anchor 17

This is an annual social support and recreational event. Registration is free of charge and open to all kids aged 8 through 18, including children with physical handicaps or special needs. We sponsor the transportation, as well as breakfast and a snack for more than 2,000 children who come from socially excluded neighborhoods. The kids receive medals and trophies at the end of the events. This program strengthens bonds amongst children and teenagers from different social spheres, promoting solidarity amongst thos with few advantages and possibilities.

On April 22nd, 2007, L.I.F.E. carried out the 4th annual Children's Marathon. The Rexxel Group was the sponsor of this event and also actively participated with a group of around 150 volunteers from 19 different countries.

61 rented buses brought children to the event from very poor neighbourghoods of the city and suburbs more than 50 kilometers away: the attendance of those children in particular was special because it allowed them to get to know the city of Buenos Aires.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all who actively participated to make this event possible. It made many children very, very happy. We would like to especially thank the L.I.F.E. volunteers who worked so hard in the logistics, organization and coordination of the Marathon.

Children's Day Celebration
Anchor 18

Children's Day is a holiday joyfully celebrated in Argentina on the second Sunday of August. Each year, L.I.F.E. organizes a Children's Day Celebration to make sure that even youth living in extreme poverty in Buenos Aires can enjoy a day of fun just for them.

L.I.F.E. invites about 1,500 kids to the event each year. Rented buses bring the children to the park and return them back to their homes at the day's end. At the aprk, they enjoy a day full of recreational activities. They can even get their faces painted and meet Winnie the Pooh! All children receive lunch (hamburger and salad) and an afternoon snack (chocolate milk and an alfajor). Plus, each child receives his or her very own gift-wrapped present.

On Saturday, August 11th, 2007, L.I.F.E. carried out its 4th annual Children's Day celebration. Kids came from community centers and soup kitchens all over Buenos Aires and its suburbs, including: Ciudad Oculta, Villa 15, Villa 20, Villa 3, Villa 1114 de Soldati, Villa Barrio Zavaleta, El Jagüel de Esteban Echeverría, Laferrere, Isidro Casanova, Ciudad Evita in La Matanza and Fuerte Apache de Caseros.

The celebration was a great success and fun was had by the children and volunteers alike. None of it would have been possible without the extraordinary work of the following dedicated L.I.F.E. volunteers: Guillaume, Axel, Dianne, Anders, Matthew, Kasey, Jose, Natalia, Paola, Bruno, Katarica, Karen, Anna, Alessandra, Gena, Judith, Vanessa, Gisela, Sophie, Erica, Robin, Ludmilla, Riecha, Rebecca, Nadia and Martin. Thank you!

On Wednesday, December 19, 2007, L.I.F.E. carried out its 4th annual Christmas For All celebration. It was a huge success. And THANK YOU to the volunteers who helped from dawn to dusk on the big day.
